Paramedic Lead

I’m the Primary Care Developmental Lead for Paramedics within the BNSSG area. My role within the hub is to help support and develop paramedics working within primary and community care, and to enable those wishing to move into a primary care role. I also promote to primary care networks the benefits of having a paramedic as part of their clinical team.

I have been a qualified paramedic for ten years, working various roles within the ambulance service before moving into the community four years ago to become an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner in primary care. I complete out-of-hours work and the occasional ambulance shift, too.

I’m passionate about travel and learning about new cultures and cuisines.

Placement Expansion Lead / General Practice Nurse Educator (GPNE)

My primary role within BNSSG Training Hub is Placement Expansion Lead. I aim to increase student nurse placements in general practice, exposing students to primary care and showcasing it as a desirable career choice. I am also a General Practice Nurse Educator, leading the Newly Qualified Nurse Fellowship, New to Practice programmes, and being an advocate for the Return to Practice programme.

I am a general practice nurse by background and also undertake additional ad hoc roles, including university lecturer and nurse educator. I am passionate about the future of general practice and access to education for all. In 2020, I was awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse.

Outside of work, I am a busy mum to three boys and a Labrador. I enjoy holidays in warmer climates and days out with my family.
